Spring
The Beauty of Contrasts in Val Gardena
Nature in Val Gardena never presents itself more contrastingly than in spring: in the heights, the snow-capped Dolomite peaks, and in the valley, the lush meadows and pastures scattered with a variety of blossoms. Add to that the birdsong and the babbling of full mountain streams and waterfalls rushing down the valley. The days get longer, and the temperatures rise. However, the weather in May is very capricious, and although the flowers already start to bloom, snow still lurks around every corner. It's no coincidence that these unique contrasting colors can also be found on the Ladin flag: blue like the sky, white like the snow, and green like meadows and forests.
Spring is a time full of hope and anticipation for the warm season. It is a time of magic: out of nowhere, blue-glowing meltwater lakes emerge, disappearing into the ground within a few weeks, leaving behind a lush green meadow. Changing weather conditions add the right amount of drama.
